Mary Katrantzou is one of the most formidable names in print design. Her ability to push the envelope while remaining constantly true to her foundational colors is a skillset that only inhibits the uber-talented. This AW 17 collection is sort of a homecoming for her sense of aesthetics, while she has been out experimenting and drifting in and out of print in her previous few collections, this collection is firmly grounded in her prints, her swirly, intoxicating colors and her greek sense of presentation (all good things). The synthesis of color and imagery has become her signature look and no one does it better. There is a reason her work is valued across the runways of London and Paris to the streets of Shanghai or Tokyo. Her work while deeply rooted in her foundational understanding of greek culture, tones and colors have a universal feel to it that is a product of being a revolutionary and being at the forefront of the print design. This collection further establishes her as an icon among her peers and endears her to her crowd which is growing larger by the day.
