Maison Rabih Kayrouz does not make couture anymore. But her collection during couture week suggested that she might be blurring the lines between couture and everything else. Such is her ability to fuse momentum and movement of functional wear into the narrow scope of couture that it is hard not to envision her taking up the helm again and with far more success.
This fall collection had increments of mastery that makes couture, a couture. From lavishly stitched dresses that deconstructed the structural limits of couture to intricate and whimsical coats, made this fall ready-to-wear collection one of the standouts for the couture week. If this an indication of what is to come then we are all very excited.
