Each cycle we try to capture the true essence of the hustle and bustle of fashion weeks all across the globe. From New York to Shanghai we send our best to cover the backstages. But up until now, we have strictly focused on the moments captured between the front row and backstage with a vast gap in between. So when Vogue photographer and Smithsonian artist Omi suggested we do something more egalitarian in terms of coverage we were on board from the get-go. These rolling photos are an homage to a fashion week that is filled with people from all corners of life. From Editors to stylists to models to the fashion week crew, these revealing photographs provide the truest sense of what a fashion week is like beyond the existential glamor and the overbearing exclusivity. This is as much as a documentary recollection of AXDW as it is an homage.
